A child's parents are their first and most important teachers. Kalamazoo Public Schools values parents and guardians as essential partners in the education of our students. Research shows that parent involvement and engagement with their children's schools are essential to improving students' academic performance and social skills. We know how important parents and guardians are to improving test scores, graduation rates, and overall success among our students, and we appreciate the support and involvement of parents.
Parents can help support their children and the schools by creating a home environment that encourages learning; by communicating high, but reasonable expectations for their children's achievement; and by supporting the schools and education in the broader community.
