New Principal Tammo Nelson was the assistant principal at Winchell Elementary School for the 2022-23 school year. Nelson earned a bachelor’s of science degree from Central Michigan University in elementary education and a master’s of science degree in principalship from Saginaw Valley State University. 

She has worked as a district culture and climate coach for KPS and was a School Improvement Grant (SIG) Math Interventionist at Northeastern Elementary School for three years. Before coming to KPS, she worked in Saginaw Public Schools for 15 years as an elementary teacher, math interventionist, and summer school principal. She has served on the School Improvement Team in all of the buildings she has worked in, and has been on the Multi-Tiered Systems of Support and Child Study teams in her schools.
