About the Board

    Comprised of seven members, the Kalamazoo Public School (KPS) Board of Education enacts policy; performs appraisals of policies and procedures; approves provisions of financial resources; hires and supervises the superintendent; maintains public relations; and collaborates with the superintendent to identify methods for improving educational programs and district operations, to work with  elected officials and community organizations on mutually beneficial partnerships, and to address issues potentially impacting the KPS community.

    All emails sent to the Board email will be responded to by the Secretary on one of their response days.

    • Emails will be forwarded to the appropriate committee or personnel to be addressed.

    Emails sent to individual Board trustees may be responded to at the trustee’s discretion.

    Any correspondence must be submitted by midnight Tuesday of the week of a regular board meeting to be included in the meeting’s correspondence log. Anything submitted after Tuesday will be included in the following meeting’s log.
